Greetings Sir Knights and Ladies:

Words to live by are just words…unless you actually live by them.
-- Eric Harvey and Steve Ventura

For your consideration:

The Five Key Principles of Walking the Talk

Some time, in the not-too-distant future, these will probably be known as “the good old days.” But for now, they’re just the times in which we live. And they are challenging times, indeed. More and more we find ourselves facing situations which test our human fiber…and our moral compass. Temptations to do what’s convenient, easy, and self-serving come at us like waves rushing to the shore.

How do we deal with this reality? How can we ensure that we stay on the right path and avoid compromising our values and beliefs? We do it by continually reflecting on the following five key principles of walking the talk…and acting accordingly.
Principle 1: Words to Live by Are Just Words…Unless You Actually Live by Them
Principle 2: You Are What You Do
Principle 3: Everything You Do Counts
Principle 4: The “Golden Rule” Is Still Pure Gold
Principle 5: Character Is the Key
Finally, start each new day with a commitment to do what’s right – regardless of what may come your way. Decide that this will be another day in which you WALK the TALK.

Sickness & Distress:

Dwight E. Lanman, KCT, PGC For your info-I have to have a total hip replacement but don't know when yet. So far I've had two x-rays-three MRI’s, 2 injections in the back which did relieve some pain and now I have to have a thalium (sic) treadmill before they decide if and when they are going to do it. I refuse to live on pain pills and they refuse to do the surgery unless I do have it done. Dwight

Jim Roberts, KCT, PGC just had pancreatic surgery (in December) and will have to return to the hospital after the first of the year to have additional surgery. Sir Knights all, SK James Roberts,  PGC, is facing serious surgery on the pancreas and stomach in early February, and is asking for your prayers.  He has had numerous surgeries in the past, but this one 'scares him'.  He faces a couple of weeks of recuperation in the hospital following surgery (about 7 hrs), so keep the prayers coming. In God be our trust!   SK Byron W. Schull, PC, Richmond #8

On Tuesday, G.C. Jackson received a call from Irv Bitting and Clarence Harter. Yesterday, Clarence and Barbara Harter were called to the Terre Haute Regional Hospital because their son Doug Harter had a heart attack with a blood clot moving into the brain area. Doug was in intensive care at this time in a coma.  On Wednesday, I talked to Clarence Harter this morning and there has been an improvement in his son Doug. They (hospital) are gradually bringing him out of the induced coma and he is trying to respond to commands such as blinking the eye, and squeezing the hand.   Also there is circulation coming back to the lower legs which is always a good sign. Irv Bitting.

The services are on Sunday February 3 at the Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home in Terre Haute 1 P.M. to 6 P.M. with Masonic Service at 5 P.M.

Doug was a Masonic member and Social Lodge No. 86 of Terre Haute will perform his Masonic Memorial Service as a courtesy to his home Lodge. Again it will be held Sunday, February 3rd at 5 pm (Terre Haute does observe daylight savings time). Callahan-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lloyd Marsh: Thanks Larry.  I'll not make Indy on Saturday because I had a biopsy again on the bladder interior.  Recovering from that and hope to get the pathology report some time next week.  In the meantime I'm taking it easy and trying to catch up on paper work.   Best Fraternal Regards to you. Elmer

Irvin Bitting: I just got home this morning, what started out to be a 1 and 1/2 hour Hernia Operation but surgery turned out to be 3 and 1/2 hours.  I am still wiped out but am getting better.

Arlene and Stanton: Hello all. Just a note to let you know that our son is starting chemo again on
Monday the 21st. The cancer has spread to other parts of the body.  We ask for your continued prayers for him and the doctors treating this dreaded thing happening to him and his young family. We just have to have FAITH and live one day at a time. We are asking all of you for the added support that we need. He continues to work and we hope that will be a blessing for him. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks, Arlene and Stanton

Terry Wilkinson, Larry and Janet’s Son-in-law went through extensive surgery and Chemo and seems to be doing well.  He has returned back to work this week.
